First try at making my own Barbecue recipe, I have it the crock pot now with spare ribs for dinner tonight. I hope it comes out alright, here’s the ingredients I used. I may or may not have to tweak it a bit, that remains to be seen.

Barbecue Sauce

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Servings 4 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 6 oz. can of tomato paste
  • 2 can of Tomato Sauce
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ cup of sugar sweeten to taste (sweetener can be subbed)
  • 4 teaspoons molasses
  • 4 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum

Instructions

  1. Whisk everything together in a medium pot.
  2. Cover and simmer 30-60 minutes, whisking occasionally to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  3. Cool, then pour into a glass pint canning jar and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for several weeks or more.

Recipe Notes

If you're going to use the xanthan gum, combine it in a small bowl with all of the dry spices.
