Stress…

Well ever since school started I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to keep up. You see I’m almost done with my associates degree in Medical Administration, and having already completed my computers applications certificate, I thought I should add a coding specialist certificate as well. However, I think I bit off more than I could chew. In total I was registered for 13 credit hours and I was having so much trouble keeping up. It was showing in my work.

I was thinking about dropping the certificate classes. However, in order to even receive a partial refund I needed to drop them before September 6th, obviously we’re beyond that date. But Mark made some valid points, he told me there was no since in beating myself up and suffering in GPA. So in the end I dropped both the certificate classes, and honestly I’m glad to not have as much stress. But I still feel guilty over paying for courses that I now I won’t be taking. That’s something I guess I’m going to have to work on.

Quickbooks Class….

Second week into my quickbooks class, and I really feel like I’m just reading a user manual….with a really big price tag….

Accounting Class is tough

So this semester one of my classes is accounting. It’s been a pretty tough class for me, but I’m persevering. I honestly found the textbook confusing, luckily I managed to find some tutorial videos on YouTube which really helped me to better grasp the main concept. I think part of what makes it more difficult for me is with my Graves disease it can be hard for me to remember things sometimes, so I’ve sort of struggled with remember things like which types of accounts are expenses or liabilities etc. I spent pretty much all day yesterday doing accounting schoolwork. It was tough, but I pushed through and managed to get A’s on them so at least my hard work is paying off. I think if I would’ve known how much work it was gonna be for me I would’ve taken the class on campus where I could’ve had direct access to a teacher, but I suppose it’s too late for that now. Anyway, I’m gonna just keep pushing and thankfully have Mark to help me with this stuff.

Pajama’s & Other Life stuff…..

I don’t often spend money on myself, In fact I find it a very difficult thing to do. I always feel like when I do I’m splurging or it’s something I could do without. Mark has spent year’s convincing me that it’s okay to occasionally splurge on myself. So I’ve lost some weight and all my pajama bottoms are falling off me, at this point I have one pair of summer bottoms that aren’t So I decided to get myself some new ones. It’s quite an accomplishment for someone who a few years ago wouldn’t even think of spending $15.00 on herself for some random item.

On another note, I’ve been trying to eat better again. For some reason I’ve been finding it really difficult to do this time around. After much thought, I’m wondering if I haven’t been subconsciously rebelling against the fact that I really need to do so now because of my diabetes. I’ve always hated being told what to do and now I know I really need to do this for my health and my mind is basically saying “SCREW YOU”.  So now, I’m going to button down and try to get back to intermittent fasting as well as eating better. I know I can do it, I did it for 8 months before and lost 40 pounds. It’s just a matter of sticking to it.

School has been okay so far this semester. I have two pretty easy classes, Microsoft Word & Microsoft PowerPoint. My Third class is Accounting. That one isn’t as easy but I’m definitely finding it interesting. It will be neat to see how I can integrate some of what I learn into my regular life, aside from using it in the field.

My Hardest Assignment Yet

So for the most part school has been fairly easy for me (aside from math, but that is a whole other can of worms). My computer classes have been a cake walk, but that is probably because I have spent so many years already learning these things of my own volition. My first English class also was not difficult for me as I first discovered my love of writing as an 11 year old and that love has only grown since then. However, this semester I am taking English composition business communication. This class has proved to be a little more difficult than I first anticipated. My overall project for the course is to write a business proposal. Upon receiving the assignment and reading the instructions, I felt confused  and was having trouble even getting started with it. More than likely because, I did not even have a basic example of what exactly a business proposal should look like. I ended up purchasing “Writing business bids & proposals for dummies” just to try and get a clearer picture about what I had to do. After reading though it, I was still feeling confused so I decided to go on the hunt for school resources that might help me.

I found that Cincinnati State offers services with eTutoring.org and today I had, what I consider, a productive meeting with a writing coach. And while I am still a bit nervous about the project itself I do feel a bit more prepared to take on the project. We ran thought some basic ideas about what kind of proposal I would write and came up with some topics that I can research to use within the report. I’ll probably utilize the writing coach services again as I found it to be immensely helpful. Hopefully by the time I am finished I will have a decent paper to turn in.

Enjoying a Week off School & Playing WOW

So I’m between semesters at the moment. Summer just ended, and fall starts next Monday. Lucky for me since the World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion just lunched. That means I can spend some time enjoying the game. Mark has been busy enjoying an event in Overwatch, so it’s just me. I had three Max level characters during legion, all alliance, a mage, warlock and druid. I only level my mage with Mark so I’ve been focusing on my Warlock. I haven’t started BFA with my druid yet.

Just the other day I was fishing in Boralus, and managed to fish up a Great Sea Ray, which in turn gave me the achievement We’re Going to Need More Saddles. It wasn’t necessarily something I was actively working but I’m happy about it none-the-less, the reward for getting that achievement was the Jade Pandaren Kite String Mount. Then not more then 10 minutes later, I fished up another Great Sea Ray which I decided to send to Mark.  I do enjoy fishing, so if I get another I’ll be posting it on the Auction hall.

All in all it’s shaping up to be a pretty relaxing week with some enjoyable game time.

Having a good teacher pays off

At the beginning of the semester, I somehow mixed up my schedule for my seven week pre-algebra class and ended up in the Tuesday/Thursday class instead of the Monday/Wednesday class. The teacher invited me to stay since I had missed my first class, telling that she would cover the same things. By the end of the class I knew I wanted to stay in her class. She was a good teacher, and I connected with her. So I asked if I could join her class and she agreed. Due to the schools being closed from bad weather and things I was three classes in before the change actually went through, and it took those changes going through before I had access to papers I needed to print and homework online. But I finally got it all straightened out. Keep in mind that I hate math, I’ve always been terrible with it, and this class was no exception and I really struggled. Well we took our finals yesterday and all my grades finally came in. I passed the class with a “B” (86%) That is astounding to me. I never, not even in high school, did that well in a math class. I’m proud of myself. I hoped for a at least a “C”, so to be getting a “B” is amazing. My teacher was a great teacher. She really knew how to explain things, and she never made you feel like you were dumb if you couldn’t figure it out, she just sat down and figured it out with you. Having a good teacher definitely pays off.

All mathed out

I’ve done more math in the past week than I have in years… I so need a math break. But I am glad I’m learning something new..

Today is definitely a slow cooker day…

Barbecue Baked Beans & Weiners in a slow cooker.

With the weather being bad today I decided it was a good day to use the slow cooker and make some good old fashioned barbecue baked beans and wieners. I hadn’t made them in so long, and nothing says comfort food for a cold day like beans & wieners.

My first week in school has been good. It turns out math isn’t bad when you have a good teacher.  The problem is my academic advisor told me that my classes were on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I was registered for classes on Monday’s and Wednesdays. So when I showed up on Tuesday the teacher told me I could stay as they covered the same things, but the I don’t have access to her files on the school website. I enjoyed her teaching method so much I really didn’t want to change. Her class was full, but I was able to get written permission from her to join her class. So I’m now waiting for the school two drop me out of the other class and register me into hers. I hope it doesn’t take them too long as I need access to the homework on the website.
